I will always remember how the first batch of cookies I made turned out just horrible. What was supposed to be a rich and chewy oatmeal cookie turned out to be more of a round, hard scone, all because I had used quick-cook oats instead of regular oats. Well, luckily I didn't give up, and I learned my lesson about oats, and a few more along the way.
Baking, for me, is a dual love. I absolutely love the process: the mixing of ingredients together, the science of what makes a great cookie, the peacefulness of slowly and lovingly creating something with your hands, and then the final product - a perfect little package of flavor and goodness that started out as just ingredients. But that's just the first part. Then there's the part where I get to share my love with someone who appreciates it just as much as I do. Watching someone's joy at unwrapping a package of cookies I've made, watching them take the first bite and savor it, and seeing their appreciation for something that is fresh and home-baked in this world of processing and preservatives; what a joy that is for me.
This started as just that - me baking for the people I love and delighting in their delight. And, with the support of those people that I love and their urging me to take my baking a step further, Dee's Treats was born. I am a small operation, committed to my customers' delight, not just satisfaction, and committed to the quality of each cookie. It is my dream that Dee's Treats will grow, customers willing, but my commitment to quality will never change. My hope is that you feel that and taste that with each bite.
